Desktop keeps refreshing windows xp
My 'go-to' fix is to install the standalone windows agent update, which usually resolves the issue. I wish I could post a video of what it's doing. I've run into the slow problem too on other computer, but this is something entirely different. It's literally like someone is hitting the refresh button on the page when it comes up and says it's checking to see if I have the latest Update software. I should also have said that if left alone, eventually it will give me a page not found error.
Have you tried tweaking. It includes a lot of common repairs including Windows Update. I have tried the tool from tweaking. If it let you install the update, you should then be able to close IE and reopen windows update.
Ive had this issue multiple times and that has always fixed. If it doesnt, you have ran into a new issue ive not witnessed. I had similar experiences with 64 Bit versions if IE. However, my experience was with the Win7 x 64 OS.
